Fruit as a Source of Complex Carbohydrates

Many types of fruit that you are likely to find in your local market contain a large supply of complex carbohydrates. Fruits like the apple have complex carbohydrates of about 10.5 grams. When calculating the amount of carbohydrates in, for example, a medium sized apple, the amount of complex carbohydrates may vary in small quantities. The process of cooking reduces the amount of complex carbohydrates in some fruits. For example, a normal apple contains about 10 grams of Carbohydrates. However a cooked apple contains about 9 grams of carbohydrates. Bananas have a high prevalence of iron and also have approximately 26 grams of complex carbohydrates. In the case of bananas, the complex carbohydrates are consumed by the body in a very short period of time. Hence, eating a banana will not necessarily affect your health even though there is a presence of a high amount of carbohydrates. According to scientists and well known to most nutritionists such as Gillian McKeith, it is most of the fibrous matter and also the outer coverings of most fruits that have a strong presence of carbohydrates.

Oranges have about 8.5 grams of calories. The carbohydrates are the accompaniments of the sugar that is prevalent in the fruit. All the sour or the citrus fruits have low carbohydrate contents in them. Most berries that are found in the wild have a very low presence of complex carbohydrates as well. Many berries have high quantity of proteins and water along with the high presence of sugar. Therefore, eating a strawberry will not affect your health in a strong way, as it has only 0.6 grams of calories. The pineapple is another fruit that has a sweet and sour flavor and also contains on average 12 grams of carbohydrates.

Network Marketing! What’s It All About?

Every day millions of employees go to their place of employment for their employers to use their time and effort to build a business — a financial future, without any “REAL” consideration for their employees future!

In Network Marketing, however, we do things much different. While all of us continue to gather customers, we also assist each other in building a business and a GREAT future. This is the true meaning of the words “Network Marketing.” We network with people, assist each other, and get paid for work that is done one time! It’s AWESOME!

In the JOB (Just Over Broke) world, your employer leverages YOUR time. But, in Network Marketing, YOU leverage your own time and the time of others! Your employer has tons of overhead to deal with. In Network Marketing, you really don’t have that.

Employees are the biggest liability an employer has. In Network Marketing we have business partners all working with our T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More). We don’t have all the issues a commercial type company has. We have our initial start-up fee, which typically runs anywhere from a little under 100 dollars to a little under 500 dollars. There are others that have a higher start-up fee, but they are few and far between.

One of the biggest reasons people fall short in this Industry is because, for some reason, they feel that a marketing budget is unnecessary. They don’t advertise, prospect, or seek out the knowledge and support they need in order to be successful. They don’t treat their Network Marketing business as a REAL business. This is a BAD mistake!

You must remember that you own a REAL business! You don’t have a boss to answer to because YOU are the boss. Your success or failure is completely OWNED by YOU! No one else!

So, you need to get down to it and go to work gathering customers! Some of those customers will want to be business builders. So, you will need to assist them in getting started, and then continually coach them to success. Two to five years of continuous effort should bring you GREAT success.

You will need to put in 5 - 20 hours per week in building your business and assisting others to do the same. You will also need to have a Marketing Budget. It can be a small budget, starting out. But, you will need one.

REMEMBER: You own a REAL business! It’s YOUR business! So treat it as such! It’s not a “get rich quick” scheme, or anything like that! It is a REAL business!

Our Industry is primarily built on “word of mouth” advertising. This has always been the most effective way to advertise. You go to a movie. You tell others about it. They go. They tell others. And, it continues. It is the same when you find a store that you like. You tell others about it. They, in turn, tell others. And, it continues on. The word spreads. This is the most powerful form of advertising there is.

Isn’t that what we do as Network Marketers? We are part of a company with great products with a business attached to it, and we share what we have with others. The difference between us and the commercial market is that we get paid for our “word of mouth” advertising. It’s AWESOME!

Most people we talk to will tell us, “But, I don’t want to sell anything.” I felt the same way, when I first got started over 40 years ago, and I still do. Who of us likes an over zealous salesperson putting pressure on us to buy something? None of us do! I’m sure that our prospects feel the same way.

This is where Network Marketing is different. We don’t “sell” anything. Isn’t that true!?! We only recommend our products and services. Ones that we love and use ourselves. The rest is up to the prospective customer.

So, “Network Marketing! What’s It All About!?!” —- It’s about “networking” with people, and sharing your products, services, and business opportunity with them. Plus - It’s a blast!

You gotta LOVE it!

Is Pet Insurance Right For Your Pet?

Trying to decide if you should get insurance on your pet? There are of course pro’s and con’s to it. Years ago I decided to try it out. I thought, if something happened, it would be a good decision to have it. Some plans will cover basic vet care and heartworm and things like that. Read through the information below and make a decision for you and your beloved pets.

Standard Care is the essential care that is required for any pet. This usually includes shots, heartworm tests and supplies, and any other preventitive care that is required through an animals life. This is usually not covered by most insurance plans and requires a special extra fee. Calculate the cost of this fee and then call your local vets office to get a price quote and compare the two. Keep in mind that sometimes your vet may be more costly than using an online pharmacy, so price out those options as well.

Accidents happen to pets all the time. Just the other day, my dog broke his nail. We had to go to the vet, have it removed, and get a shot of antibiotics. The total cost was $50 for this procedure. Of course, not everything is covered so you need to discuss this with the insurance company and find out exactly what is covered. When I was with one insurance company I actually got charged for submitting claims that weren’t covered. Of course I had no way of knowing what was covered and what wasn’t.

Every owners fear is the dreaded Cancer word. At least I know it is mine. Cancer procedures and testing is not covered by most companies. There are special riders for this as well. But you have to purchase them BEFORE the dog has cancer. Otherwise it is excluded as preexisting.

The bottom line is do your research, talk to your vet, talk to different companies and try to make the best decision you can for your loved ones. I know that vet insurance has worked for so many people. In the long run, I think its a gamble, just like life insurance. If you dont have it and something happens you kick yourself that you should have just done it. But in other cases, you do have it, and nothing thankfully ever goes wrong.

Tips For Successful Weight Loss

Throughout my childhood and teenage years I watched as my mother tried every fad diet under the sun. I recall one time she ate boiled cabbage and nothing else for a whole week. I felt my mothers’ frustration and misery, however I could not understand why it was so difficult for her to lose weight and keep it off - until that is I became a weight management coach.

For the past two years I have been assisting people to achieve their ideal weight and in this time I have experienced what contributes to a successful weight loss story.

Getting serious - It all starts with you and how serious you are about losing weight. The key to successful weight loss is partly dependent on your level of commitment. How would you rate your seriousness on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being deadly serious)?

No quick fix - If you have made the commitment to get serious about losing weight then you need to make the commitment to do it safely and effectively. One piece of invaluable advice my own family doctor passed onto me is that slow and steady is always the best option. The longer it takes you to lose weight the less likely you are to put it back on.

Staying motivated - Always keep the end in mind! Write down all of the reasons why you are motivated to lose weight now. Record these reasons on a piece of card that can be kept in your wallet or purse. Each morning and before going to bed remind yourself by reading aloud why you are motivated to lose weight.

Facing challenges - Every day you are likely to face challenges, which can disrupt your focus and get in the way of your weight loss goals. Write down all of the challenges that you know have made losing weight hard for you in the past. This will help you to develop a better strategy this time. Three common challenges are lack of results, boredom and lack of support from spouse, family and friends.

Choosing a weight control program - I recommend choosing a diet / weight control program that offers all of the following for best results:

  • Provides a balanced nutritious program that is safe and effective
  • Support system and regular progress follow-up
  • Teaches you better eating habits
  • Teaches you how to maintain your weight once you have reached your goal weight

For two years Annette Croft has been assisting people reach their ideal weight with the aid of a nutritious, simple and convenient weight management program. Mobile Contract Comparison Site

Choosing the right mobile contract can be a time consuming and frustrating business. There are dozens, if not hundreds of handsets to choose from, produced by an ever increasing number of manufacturers.

There are different types of phone, bar, flip, smart to choose from. Some are integrated PDA’s, others can send mail like Blackberry.

Then comes the really tricky part, choosing the tarrif. The reason this is difficult for many people is that they cannot envisage how they will use their phone over the coming months, and therefore do not know how many inclusive minutes to order.

Our advice would always be to start with a cheaper tarrif, you will find it easy to upgrade to a more expensive one if you need more airtime, but, you would not be able to move to a cheaper one, having already signed up for a more costly one.

Of course going with a cheaper contract means you are unlikely to get such a nice handset. The trick to getting a good mobile phone deal is two fold.

First, as discussed, think about what you need and understand your own requirements, Second, visit a mobile contract comparison site where you can compare all the latest deals side by side.

Even if you do not plan to buy from a given comparison site, it is worth using them to size up the market. They will tip you off as to what kind of deal you should be looking for.

Once you have found the price you want online, you may be able to negotiate the same price with a local retailer.

Descriptive Terms in Real Estate Ads - More Definitions

If you are buying or selling a home, the chances are good you struggle with the meaning of descriptive real estate terms. Here are explanations and definitions for more terms.

“Shed Dormers”

These are often seen in Dutch colonial style houses and are flat roofed dormers. Sometimes these dormers are single windows, but often they are two or three windows side by side with one flat roof.

“Blind Dormer Window”

Sometimes builders construct fake dormer windows to add architectural interest to new houses. They are at attic level but can’t be seen from the attic because the roof of the house covers access to them.

“Oversize Garage”

Ads often say how many cars a garage will hold. Then they add the word “oversize” as in “oversize 2-car garage.” What is usually meant is that there is room for storage, or a work bench in addition to space for the cars. Occasionally it simply means you can open a car door wide enough to actually get out with both cars in the garage!

“Gourmet Kitchen”

This phrase is intended to convey the idea that a very good cook can happily work here. That may or may not be the case, but it does usually mean that the kitchen is fairly large and attractive.

“Great Room”

I’ve seen this used in two distinctly different ways. The first is to describe a living room, dining room, and kitchen in a very open floor plan. The area typically has a high ceiling. The second way I’ve seen it used is when what we’d normally call a family room has a high, often coffered, ceiling, a fireplace with a dramatically massive mantle, and perhaps an upstairs balcony overlooking it. I think this may stem from the idea of a “great hall” in old English houses.

If you can get the verbiage down, you’ll be way ahead in the real estate game. Look for future articles on this subject or visit our site to read more terms.

How to Deal With Mail-In Rebates - Tips to Make Your Life Easier!

Rebates are a wonderful thing, if and when you receive your rebate check. The most common mistake made when sending in a rebate is failure to comply to all the rebate requirements and failure to keep a copy of all materials sent to the rebate processor. When dealing with rebates; please be sure to follow our guidelines, it will save you a hassle in the future and ensure that you receive your rebate promptly.

  • Price compare before you buy anything with a rebate. Rebates are usually promotions that are offered to deal with price cuts or competitive pricing. Sometimes you may find that you can purchase the same product from another store at a lower cost without having to fill out any rebate! The less hassle, the better off you are.
  • Before purchasing any item with a rebate; read the rebate requirements in detail. Be sure that you can meet all the requirements before you make the purchase. If you purchase a product, and then return it because you don’t qualify for the rebate you will end up losing on shipping costs. The requirements you should pay attention to are the: product/purchase requirements, quantity, expiration date; post-mark date, location requirements, stipulations, etc.
  • Some rebates will only be honored for specific stores; don’t expect to have a rebate honored if you did not purchase it from an authorized retailer listed on the rebate form.
  • If the company sponsoring the rebate is not well known, beware. Many rebates are never honored by their sponsoring companies and you could be the one to lose out. If in doubt, check the Better Business Bureau to get information on a company. If there are any open complaints against them, they will most likely be listed there.
  • If you’re dealing with an upgrade rebate; be sure that you have the proper proof-of-purchase to be eligible for that rebate.
  • Once you receive the product, fill out the rebate form CLEARLY so that your handwriting is easy to read. If I was a rebate processor and I received chicken scratch all over a rebate form, I would most likely ignore it as well. Many companies will not accept typed-in responses, one good practice is to write in all the details with a non-smearing pen. Then place a sticker with your name & address on the rebate form in a blank space. It doesn’t hurt to have a second opinion.
  • Most rebates require the original UPC (Universal Product Code) to be cut from the package as proof of purchase. The UPC is the white/black barcode on the outside of the box that is scanned by price scanners. Remember; if the rebate requires the “original’ UPC they most likely will not honor a photocopy.
  • Photocopy or scan all the materials you are sending to the rebate company. This includes the rebate form, receipt, UPC and any other required paperwork. It’s kind of hard to prove that you sent in a rebate if you don’t have a copy. The rebate forms will also have the numbers you need to call to verify that a rebate has been received and is being processed.
  • Many rebates can be submitted online, usually requiring you to send the printed form out along with the required proof-of-purchase. This method is extremely convenient and you will receive email confirmations on the status of your rebate. Save these emails as well.
  • When checking the status of a rebate; you can save time by first checking online. Most rebate companies have a website where you can track the status of your rebate. If you fail to find your submission, call them directly to find the status.
  • Before you call for the status of your rebate; please wait the required amount of time for your rebate to be processed. This time period is always listed on the requirements of the rebate; the typical time period is 8 to 12 weeks. If after this amount of time you haven’t received your rebate, you should follow up by checking the status online, or calling the rebate company directly. Be prepared to be placed on hold as some companies are overwhelmed with calls, and you’ll have to deal with an “automated attendant” for a good portion of the call.
  • Track all your rebates using spreadsheet or database software. If you are waiting for multiple rebates; you can easily forget about ones you should have received. After a the rebate period expires, you may not be eligible to resubmit it.
  • The post-mark date determines if your rebate will be accepted due to time restraints. If you are dealing with a large rebate (> $50.00) you may want to take your envelope directly to the post office and ask for a dated stamp and a receipt. This is your proof that your submission was mailed on time, and that you dropped it off at the post office. Rebate companies are not responsible for late mailings and have no problem rejecting your rebate if it is not postmarked on time. Certified mail also works, but will cost you more then $2.00 per envelope.
  • This is totally opinionated, although any rebate under $4.99 may not be worth the time. If there’s a problem with the rebate; you will most likely lose 30 minutes of your life while you check to see if it was received, place phone calls, etc. Remember, most every rebate you send in will cost you a stamp, envelope, and time to do the work (purchase, cut UPC, photocopy, envelope, stamp). Time is money, and sometimes you’ll find that your time is more valuable then $1.00 back. You’ll most likely earn this amount of money in your savings account by the time you get your check!

Keep in mind that most companies offering rebates hope that you as a buyer forget to send in the rebate. Up to 40% of consumers never claim their rebates which just leads to more cash in the hands of the suppliers. It’s up to you to make sure you do your due diligence and follow all requirements properly and have your rebate sent in on time.
